J&K records biggest spike with 47 deaths, 3832 fresh COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 3832 fresh COVID-19 cases while 47 people succumbed to the virus in last 24 hours — the highest-ever number of infections as well as fatalities in a single day, officials said on Saturday.

They said 2601 of the fresh cases were reported from Kashmir and 1231 were from Jammu region, taking the overall tally of infections to 179915.

Regarding the deaths, they said, 30 were from Jammu and 17 from Kashmir Valley, taking the fatality count to 2330.

Providing the district-wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 1084 cases, Baramulla 309, Budgam 291, Pulwama 70, Kupwara 122, Anantnag 286, Bandipora 77, Ganderbal 94, Kulgam 221, Shopian 47, Jammu 504, Udhampur 141, Rajouri 96, Doda 42, Kathua 120, Samba 137, Kishtwar 15, Poonch 64, Ramban 60 and Reasi 52.

The officials also informed that 1801 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during past 24 hours. These include 689 people from Jammu division and 1112 from Kashmir Valley.

According to the daily media bulletin on Covid-19, out of 179915 positive cases recorded thus far, 30343 are ‘active positive’,  147242 have recovered and 2330 have died —  1411 in Kashmir and 919 in Jammu division.

The bulletin also said that out of 7312926 test results available, 7133011 samples have been tested as negative till May 01, 2021.

Till date 1814821 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 95997 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 30343 in isolation and 120996 in home surveillance. Besides, 1565155 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
