J&K reports 1,269 new COVID cases, 3 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 1,269 new COVID-19 cases — the highest spike so far this year — taking the tally to 1,40,650, while three fresh deaths pushed the toll to 2,037, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 687 were from the Kashmir Valley and 582 were from Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 423 COVID-19 cases, including 73 travellers, followed by 265 in Udhampur district, including 255 travellers, and 191 in Jammu district.

Baramulla reported 98 cases, Budgam 42, Pulwama 28, Kupwara 24, Anantnag 29, Bandipora 12, Ganderbal 15, Kulgam 9, Shopian 7, Rajouri 17, Doda 2, Kathua 26, Samba 11, Poonch 6, Ramban 2 and Reasi 62, they said.

The number of active cases has now reached 8,681 in the union territory, while 1,29,932 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic is 2,037 as three fresh deaths – two from Jammu division and one in Valley– were reported in the past 24 hours in the union territory.

So far 2037 people have succumbed to the virus— 754 in Jammu and 1283 in Kashmir.

During the past 24 hours, officials said 493 more COVID-19 patients have recovered—101 from Jammu and 392 from Kashmir.

There are currently 8681 active cases in the UT — 5414 in Kashmir and 3267 in Jammu division, the informed.
