Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference delegation on Wednesday visited Sopore to express solidarity with party leader Irshad Kar whose mother and sister, both councilors had escaped unhurt in an attack in Sopore the other day.

The delegation comprised of Party’s Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Party MP Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone, District President Baramulla Javed Dar, and Senior leader Reyaz Bedar.

The visiting delegation also met with other councilors on the occasion who apprised them about the issues concerning them, in particular the delay in elections for Chairman Municipal Council Sopore. The councilors apprised the delegation on how this delay has resulted in stagnancy in the council and has hinged the development activities in the town.

Later, the visiting delegation who wanted to visit the bereaved families of deceased councilors were disallowed to visit them citing security reasons. The visiting delegation on the occasion demanded thorough security cover for the councilors and also assured the councilors to take up all issues concerning the municipal council at all appropriate forums.
