Sarita Chauhan reviews functioning of Employment Deptt

JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment (L&E), Sarita Chauhan today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Employment department at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Director Employment, J&K, Joint Director Employment, Jammu while as other officers of the department participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

Speaking during the meeting, Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the officers to work with dedication and re-orient themselves to change with time and technology in order to bring outcomes.

While reviewing the registration of unemployed youth with the department, Sarita Chauhan directed all the district officers to play a proactive role in collecting the information from the government agencies like drop out students from education department. She also asked them to work in tandem with different local institutions including rural and urban local bodies for registration and counseling of youth population.

The Commissioner Secretary asked the officers to act as facilitators to provide a platform for the job seekers and job providers to enable employment access.

She further asked them to analyze job seekers and job providers in terms of skills, geographical location.

While reviewing the counseling being done by the department, Commissioner Secretary issued directions to involve resource persons from different areas of expertise in order to provide quality inputs to the unemployed youth regarding different employment avenues.

Commissioner Secretary also laid stress on obtaining feedback during counseling sessions from the youth. She lauded the department for providing libraries and computer lab facilities to the unemployed youths and suggested them to keep available employment newspapers in the libraries.
