3 J&K Battalion NCC conducts NCC camp at Boniyar

Srinagar: A National Cadet Corps Annual Training Camp is being organized by 3 Jammu & Kashmir Battalion NCC Baramulla from 10 to 16 March 2021 in Army Camp Boniyar under the ageis of NCC Group Headquarters Srinagar and NCC Directorate Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, said a defense spokesperson.

“The local Army formation is rendering its full support to the NCC camp. The last camp was held at Boniyar in 2009. A total of 110 Cadets from the schools and colleges of Baramulla, Uri, Handwara, Tangmarg, Tangdhar, Kupwara, Lolab, Bandipora, Pattan, Sopore and Boniyar are taking part in the present camp. Successful training at the camp will make the Cadets eligible to attend ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificate examination to be held later in the month. The Camp commenced on 10 March 2021 after the conduct of Rapid Corona Test of all participating cadets by team of Block Medical Officers Boniyar,” the spokesperson said.

“The training imparted included Physical Training, Drill, Weapon Training, Firing, Map Reading and grooming to instill confidence in them. Special emphasis was laid on positive thinking, self-learning, acquiring general awareness, social service and community development activities. To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of 1971 Indo-Pak War, activities like Debate, Painting and screening of inspirational movies were conducted. Senior and decorated Army Officers interacted with the cadets during the camp to motivate them. The cadets were exposed to the conduct of Social Services and Community development programs like Tree Plantation and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A visit to National Hydro Electric Power Corporation, Boniyar was also organized during the camp,” he said.

The spokesperson further said: “Major General Virendra Vats, General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division visited the camp on 15 March 2021, wherein he was given the Guard of Honour by the cadets. Thereafter, he inspected the training norms being followed in the camp. GOC gave a motivational talk, interacted with the cadets over a cup of tea and felicitated the meritorious cadets. The GOC assured all kinds of support for regular conduct of training for NCC cadets in this sector.”

“Overall, the camp was a huge success in these difficult times and boosted confidence in the cadets. There was enthusiasm and smiles on the faces of the Cadets. The cadets expressed their happiness in sustained conduct of regular NCC training in the home town of North Kashmir and appreciated the endeavors undertaken by the Army,” he added.
