Pr Secy I&C interacts with various Industrial Associations of Jammu

JAMMU: Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce (I&C) Department, Ranjan Prakash Thakur, today held a series of interactions with various Industrial Associations at Udyog Bhawan here in order to get an insight into the issues being faced by them.

Lalit Mahajan of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) requested for compensating the erosion of competitive edge due to abolition of Toll by extending the benefit of incoming freight reimbursement along with suitable Turnover based incentive.

Mahajan also raised the issue of non-applicability of GST Linked Incentive for existing units undertaking substantial expansion with the Principal Secretary and sought early redressal of the same.

The representatives also raised issues like imposition of Bottling Fee, Export duty on Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL) Units, Contract Manufacturing, rationalisation of fees regarding Change in constitution of units, purchase price preference to local units and changing of water usage charges by J&K State Water Resources Regulatory with the Principal Secretary and sought his early intervention   for redressing the same.

A delegation from Laghu Udyog Bharati also met Principal Secretary and sought free hold rights of leased land for local entreprenurs. They demanded preference for local manufactured products on the GeM portal in projects under implementation in the Union Territory of J&K.

A delegation of office bearers from Association of Industries, Gangyal and Birpur Industries Association led by Rattan Dogra also meet the Principal Secretary and sought his intervention for effective implementation of local filter on GeM portal for the benefit of local enterprises.

President of Association of Industries also met the Principal Secretary and raised the issue of local labour stipulation for disbursement of incentives.

The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised by the delegations and assured that due care shall be taken during implementation of different policies here. He added that concrete steps will be taken so that not only existing units survive but also flourish and contribute to the economy of J&K.

RP Thakur acknowledged the issues being faced by Industries in J&K and assured them that they will be looked into meticulously for their early resolution.

Director Industries & Commerce Jammu, Anoo Malhotra along with other officers of the Department were also present during the interactions.
