Srinagar: Thousands of Shia Muslims here on Thursday commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of seventh Shia Imam, Imam Musa Kazim, by holding day long ceremony.
The gathering was organised by Anjuman Sharie Shian (ASS), here at central Imam Bargah.
While remembering the contribution of Imam Musa towards Islam, speakers urged people to follow Imam in letter and spirit.
Devotees recited Marsia in the majlis as speakers narrated the hardships faced by the slain Shia Imam.
People recited traditional Marsiya Khawani and bid adieu to their Imam.
On the occasion, president ASS and senior Hurriyat leader, Aga Syed Hassan threw light on the life of Imam Kazim.
While speaking about current Kashmir situation, Hassan said that right to self determination is the only solution. He also prayed for the peace in Kashmir.
The seventh Shia Imam was martyred after being poisoned by the Abbasid Caliph Harun Rashid.
