Srinagar: A minor boy died after drowning in a pond in Gundpora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday afternoon.

News agency KNO quoted an official saying the boy identified as 3-year-old Mohsin Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie slipped into the pond adjacent to his home.

He said that soon after the news spread in the locality, people rushed to the spot and retrieved his body.

The boy was rushed to District Hospital Bandipora, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

After completing the legal formalities the body was handed over to the family for last rites, the official added.
