Policeman in Sopore returns lost money to rightful owner

Srinagar: A Policeman from District Police Sopore handed over an amount of Rs. 15,000/- to the rightful owner which he found in Sopore area, said a police spokesperson on Monday.

“A Policeman namely Ishtiyaq Ahmad, PSO to DySP Sopore Muhammad Amin-JKPS found a cash amount of Rs 15,000/- in Sopore. Accordingly the said Policeman uploaded a post on social media regarding the matter and requested the general public to share the post till the information reaches the rightful owner of the said amount,” the spokesperson said.

“After the post went viral, the information reached to the owner who contacted the policeman regarding the amount lost in Sopore. He was advised to the reach the office of DySP Sopore Muhammad Amin-JKPS for collecting the said amount,” he said.

“Subsequently, the owner reached to the DySP’s office and after proper verification the said amount has been handed over to the owner in presence of DySP Sopore. The owner of the amount thanked Sopore Police for displaying honesty,” he added.
