The UK returnees were later admitted in the isolation ward of Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital at Rainawari and their samples were sent to Delhi to ascertain whether they are infected with mutant Coronavirus.

Refuting media reports these travelers has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2; Nodal Officer at JLNM hospital, Dr Bilkis Shah said the duo tested positive for COVID-19 and not new strain called SARS-CoV-2.

She said the samples of two UK returnees have been sent to Delhi to confirm whether they are infected with mutant strain of the virus.

She also refuted media reports quoting her of having confirmed that the duo had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

“This is not done; I refute such media reports suggesting the duo tested positive for mutant Coronavirus. I appeal people not to heed concocted reports as the result of duo is yet awaited,” Dr Bilkis added.
