Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a mysterious murder case of a woman by arresting the accused person.

According to a police spokesman, on December 21, Police Post Ajas received a written complaint from one Abdul Rehman Matahanji, son of Abdul Gaffar Matahanji of Laharwalpora Bandipora stating that his daughter Afrooza Bano, who was married to Shabir Ahmad Pahloo, son of Nazir Ahmad Pahloo of S.K Payeen Bandipora, had been killed by her husband.

A case (FIR no.177/2020) under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation was taken up.

Subsequently, a special police team recovered the dead body of the deceased woman and after completing medico-legal formalities the body was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.

During investigations, police arrested the woman’s husband Shabir Ahmad Pahloo, who during questioning, admitted that during the intervening night of 20/21 December following a brawl with his wife over ‘Mehar’ and some golden ornaments, he strangulated her to death, police spokesman said in a statement.

He said that Pahloo has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Further investigation in the case is going on.

In a separate statement, police spokesman said a murder case of a minor boy was solved in Budgam and three accused persons involved in the crime have been arrested.

Giving details, spokesman said on December 01, police received a written complaint from one Hilal Ahmad Najar of Chewdara wherein he stated that his minor son Burhan is missing from his home.

Accordingly, a case was registered in Police Station Beerwah and during investigations, body of the missing boy was recovered from a canal outside village Chewdara on December 02, 2020.

During further investigations, one accused (name withheld), who is the cousin of the victim, was arrested, who revealed about the involvement of two other suspects.

All the three accused persons have been arrested and are currently under custody, spokesman said, adding the case is under investigation and will be charge-sheeted within the shortest possible time.
