“Following the directions of Wildlife Warden north Kashmir, Mohammad Maqbool Baba, an advisory has been issued for the general public to safeguard their lives from the wild animals,” Koul said.

“The people are requested not to venture in the nearby forest areas and use proper lighting system like torch, lantern or any other lighting system during night hours,” he said.

“While visiting to nearby orchards or fields, the people should move in groups and do not chase wild animals as they can jump on the person in self-defense,” he added.

“The women from rural areas are requested not to visit nearby forests alone to collect firewood. The department appealed general public to inform the nearby wildlife officials about the presence of leopard in residential areas,” the advisory reads.

Wildlife Warden North Kashmir Mohammad Maqbool Baba urged the people to avoid venturing out alone in morning and evening. He said that the people should instantly inform the department, if they observe movement of wild animals in their fields, orchards or in villages.
