Child Protection Unit Anantnag organizes two-day workshop for VLCPCs

Anantnag: District Child Protection Unit Anantnag organized a two-day workshop for Village Level Child Protection Committees on 28th and 29th of December.

The main highlights of the programme were Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO. Brief directions were also imparted regarding Constitution of Village Level Child Protection Committees (its functions and system) to the nominated members.

This workshop was sponsored by UNICEF and resource persons at various levels imparted training to VLCPCs of District Anantnag.

Speaking on the occasion, Juvenile Justice Board member, Sajad Ahmad Rather, welcomed the Village Level Child Protection Committees (VLCPCs) members/participants and gave the detailed overview of the JJAct and Systems and also enlightened the VLCPCs members regarding their role and responsibilities on ground for the welfare of children.

He also imparted importance of constitution/framing of VLCPCs in order to protect and enhance the development of children in need of care and protection on behalf of Child Protection Services, Anantnag.

Researcher Rao Farman Ali the gave an abstract overview of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and also made VLCPCs members aware about social evils and their curbing solutions in order to protect children in day to day life.

Personnels from JJB and DCPU which include Sajad Ahmad Rather (JJB member), Syed Salman Umer (PO-IC), Sajad Ahmad Hakeem (PO-NIC), Anjuman Ayoub (Counsellor) were present on the occasion.

Media persons including S. Tariq, Bureau Chief Kashmir Images for south Kashmir and Amaan Malik were also participated in the workshop and shared their experiences with regard to the POCSO.
