BARAMULLA, APRIL 09: Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla today organised a programme to commemorate the 66th death anniversary of Shaer-e-Kashmir Mahjoor.

The programme was attended by ADC Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Baba, CEO, DIO, teachers and a huge gathering of students from various institutions.

Speakers at the occasion highlighted different aspects of Mehjoor’s life and poetry.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC highlighted the significance of Mehjoor’s notable works like Poshe-mati – Janano, Bage Nishat Ke Gulo and his patriotic verses that touch every cord of our conscience even today.

Mehjoor’s songs presented by the school orchestra were warmly received and highly appreciated by the audience.

CEO Baramulla, Abdul Ahad Insha highlighted the contribution of Mehjoor in popularising Kashmiri verse and in the larger perspective Kashmiri language.

He said that “poets like Rabindranath Tagore have acknowledged the relevance and message of unity, harmony in the verses of Mehjoor.
