Srinagar: Thousands of devotes on Friday participated in the special congregational prayers at Dastgeer Sahab shrine in Khanyar and Sarai Bala areas of Srinagar where annual Urs of the 11th century Sufi saint, Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), known as Dastageer Sahib, was observed with religious fervor today.
The devotees thronged the shrines on Thursday evening and participated in the night-long prayers at Khanyar and Sarai Bala.
Pertinently, the actual shrine of the revered saint is located at Baghdad in Iraq. Even though the saint has never visited Kashmir, he is highly revered by the locals.
