Don’t presume what SC will say on restoration of Article 370: Omar asks Union Law Minister

Srinagar: Reacting to the Jammu and Kashmir administration list which alleges that their residential house in Jammu is built over “illegally-possessed land”, National Conference president and vice-president denied the charge saying it’s a “lie being spread with a malicious intent”.

NC vice-president Omar Abdullah said, “The news attributing to sources that Dr Farooq Abdullah is a beneficiary of the Roshni Act is completely false and is being spread with a malicious intent. Both his houses at Jammu and Srinagar have nothing to do with the said Act.

“Dr Farooq Abdullah has NOT availed of the Roshni Scheme for either his residence in Srinagar or in Jammu and any one who says otherwise is lying. The fact that they are using sources to plant this story shows that it has no legs to stand on,” Omar said.

Reacting to his name surfacing in the Roshni scam list made public by the J&K administration, Farooq Abdullah, as per ‘India Today’, said, “Not only my house, there are hundreds of others in the area. I will not react to this as they just want to disturb Farooq Abdullah. Let them do it.”

NC leader Devender Rana said that the matter is sub-judice and that they will abide by the court’s verdict.

“Yes, this law was enacted by Farooq Abdullah government in 2001, but it was amended later by other governments. We are not blaming the other governments as this is a sub-judice matter. NC office is built on a land which we got on lease and it was regularised under the Roshni Act. There has been no wrongdoing. But let the CBI investigate and court pronounce its verdict. We will abide by the court’s order,” he said, as per ‘India Today’.
