NC committed to ensure equitable development in J&K: Slathia

VIJAYPUR:  Exuding confidence that National Conference will leave an indelible mark in the upcoming District Development Council elections, former minister and senior leader Surjeet Singh Slathia today said that a stable political structure is imperative for meeting challenges and steering J&K  to peace, progress and development.

“The National Conference has a credible record of public service and ushering J&K to unprecedented development during different spells of governance in the past over four decades”, Slathia said while addressing people during nomination of candidates for the upcoming elections.

He said the people are sagacious enough to choose their representatives to the grassroot level democratic institutions. This will enable them to serve the people and undoing wrongs committed due to lack of representative governance, he said, adding  that the Jammu region has suffered the most as the balloon of the BJP’s promises burst in recent years. The people had pinned many hopes with the BJP but their betrayal has left them devastated. He said personal agenda of the BJP team in the government prevailed over public interest, as a result of which Jammu region suffered adversely on the front of development, implementation of welfare schemes and jobs to youth.

Slathia said the people of Jammu are determined to teach a lesson to those who betrayed their 2014 mandate. He slammed the BJP for non-fulfilment of promises over the years.

Slathia exhorted National Conference workers to remain steadfast in their mission of serving the people, saying the party has surmounted turbulent winds with fortitude and there is no reason why it will not emerge as a force to reckon with. He said despite obstacles created by the opponents from time to time  National Conference has retained its premier role.

Referring to his vision of making Vijaypur a model constituency, the former minister said that overwhelming support of the people has strengthened his resolve to go whole-hog for achieving this mission. “We have to tread the journey for holistic development of Vijaypur together”, he said and urged the people to join his effort of heralding a new era of development and progress in the constituency.

The occasion marked the nomination of National Conference  candidates Prem Pal from Ramgarh B  and Harpreet Kour from Ramgarh C.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included   Chairman BDC Vijaypur Jogeshwar Singh Jamwal, Chairman BDC Ramģarh Darshan Choudhary besides with panches Sarpances.
