Srinagar: State Council of Educational Research and Trainings (SCERT), Srinagar today came back-to-back with two notifications regarding the ongoing examination of class 8th students thus confusing the examinees.

In a notification, issued by SCERT under number SCERT/ERSA/K/630-57, dated 20-11-2020, the authorities postponed the examination of  Kashmir/Punjabi paper which was to be held on 21-11-2020 at 2 PM to 28-11-2020, 11 PM.

However, hours after this notification, SCERT came up with another notice under number SCERT/ERSA/K/630-57 that read:

“In partial modification of the earlier notification of this Office the examination of Kashmiri/Punjabi paper of class 8th students shall now be held 22-11-2020 (Sunday) at 11.00 in the respective schools as notified earlier.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the students of class 8th were to take the examination in EVS on 21-11-2020 at 11 am while in the second half they were supposed to appear in the Kashmiri/Punjabi paper.

Though the postponement has been made keeping in view the demand of the parents, as the first notification claims, question is what made the authorities to change their mind within hours to pre-pone the date.

Sources said that DDC elections are being held on 28th of November and therefore the authorities had to postpone earlier notification as most of the examination centre (schools) would be converted into polling booths.
