DC reviews functioning of Power sector in Bandipora

BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed today convened a meeting of officers to review the functioning of the Power Sector in the district.

The officers informed the meeting about the power scenario in the district and the issues of overloading during peak hours. It was also informed that the recent outages were primarily due to faults in various 11kv/33kv feeders which were rectified by the department immediately.

It was given out that the power supply scenario in Bandipora Division has witnessed a considerable improvement as compared to previous year due to commissioning of Patushay Grid Station and relocation, rationalization of load on different feeders.

Dr Owais on the occasion directed officers to make the Area-Wise Curtailment schedule public and ensure power supply strictly as per schedule. He also directed concerned officers to put in place proper grievance redressal mechanisms by way of setting up dedicated control rooms to take note of power and transformer related grievances and coordinate ensure timely redressal and dissemination of the information to the general public.

He also stressed upon officers to intensify field inspections and take action against consumers resorting to power thefts through different means, usage of crude broilers and unregistered load/connections.

While reviewing the ongoing works undertaken by the different wings of the department, Dr Owais stressed upon all concerned officers to expedite and ensure timely completion of all works especially the works involving construction/augmentation of Receiving Stations.

It was also informed by the concerned Officers that six Receiving Stations are in the advanced stages of their completion and efforts shall be made to commission them in a month’s time period which will improve the power scenario of the concerned areas to a large extent.

Dr Owais appealed to the general public to use electricity judiciously and avoid use of heavy load appliances during peak hours and to cooperate during the field inspections by the Power Department.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Superintending Engineers (Projects) Muneer Ahmad Mir, SE EM&RE Ganderbal/Bandipora, Hilal Ahmad, Executive Engineer Gh Qadir Dar, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers and senior officials of the department.
