RAJOURI APRIL 06: Minister for Public Works Department and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs today laid foundation stone for various ambitious projects worth Rs. 95 crore under health and road sectors in Rajouri.

Legislators Aijaz Mir and Dilawar Mir were present on the occasion.

The projects  included Rs. 40 crore residential block of GMC Rajouri and 55 crore road projects for upgradation of 28 KM Kassian-Thanamarg-Prori Gujran, 8 KM Dhandkote-Kangar Gali, 5 KM Bilsi-Margan, 6 KM Chowkian-Sankari, 12 KM Rattal-Karhad and 5.5 KM Palma Koetdhara-BGSBU road.

The Ministers directed the concerned officers for timely completion of these projects besides maintaining quality of works so that the objective of present dispensation of creating durable assets is achieved. They called for effective monitoring of these projects which they said would give better health care services and road connectivity to people of the district thus giving a further boost to economic activities.

After laying foundation stone for Residential Block of GMC, the Ministers inspected the ongoing work on administrative block of the college. Directions were given to the concerned to finalise estimates for upgradation of District Hospital to raise its infrastructure as per guidelines of Medical Council of India. They also inspected work on Rs. 13.5 crore Ujhan Bridge which connects Rajouri-Darhal road with Rajouri-Dhandkote road.

Addressing the public on the occasions, Naeem Akhtar said the roads make a crucial contribution towards economic development and growth of an area and the government is laying special thrust in this regard. He reiterated the government’s commitment to provide quality and long lasting road infrastructure to the remotest parts of the state.

Chowdhary Zulfkar said that apart from providing connectivity, roads are key to inclusive development adding that roads stimulate economic and social development. He, while terming public involvement in development as of utmost significance, exhorted upon the people to be a watchdog over the works being executed in their respective areas for enhanced outcome.

Among others District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director FCS & CA R A Inqalabi, MD JKPCC Waqar Shunthu, SSP Yougal Manhas, SE PWD Majid Khan, SE PMGSY A K Gandotra, SSP Yougal Manhas, Executive Engineers besides district officers were present on the occasion.
