One killed, 4 injured as car falls in Sindh stream in Sonamarg

Srinagar: One person was killed while four others were injured as the car they were travelling in met an accident in central Kashmir’s Sonamarg hill station.

A police official said that an Alto car (JK16A-6111) was on way from Nilgrath to Kullan when it plunged into Nallah Sindh near Shitkari area of Sonamarg resulting in the death of driver and injuries to four other persons including a one-year-old baby.

Police and locals rushed to the spot after the incident and the injured were taken to PHC Sonamarg for treatment. “They have been referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment,” the official said.

Meanwhile, 10 persons were injured in a separate road accident on the Mughal road in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

A police official said a Tempo traveller on its way to Srinagar from Rajouri skidded off the road  near Dobijan area and fell into a gorge.

“At least ten persons sustained injuries”, said the official.

He said that all the injured were rushed to District Hospital, Shopian. “Of them seven have been sent to SKIMS, Soura given the grave nature of their injuries”, added the official.
