Militancy in north Kashmir in last throes: DGP
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Baramulla, Nov 01: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Sunday said that security forces have achieved “major success” in eliminating militancy to a large extent in north Kashmir and militancy is at its fag end because infiltration bids have been plugged along the Line of Control (LoC) this year.

While talking to media-persons on the sidelines of sports festival at north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the DGP said that militancy in north Kashmir stands controlled to a large extent and the same is in its last leg.  “With the people’s support, militancy will be eradicated,” the DGP said.

About the infiltration along the LoC, the DGP said that launching pads are active since last year across the LoC even in winters. “This year too, launch pads are full and attempts are continuously being made to push militants into this side,” the DGP said.

He said anti-militancy operations will continue in the winter too “as militants have, on the instructions of Pakistan, started killing innocent people.”

DGP said while appreciating the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police for organizing sports events said this will continue in future too for the welfare of young generation.

He also said ceasefire violations continue along the LoC and “the sole aim of the same is to give cover to militants during their infiltration to this side. However, our counter-insurgency grid along the LoC is very active and most of the times infiltrators are neutralized on the LoC only.”

About the investigations with regard to the killing of three BJP men at Kulgam, the DGP said that attackers have been identified and “militants involved are being tracked.”
