If KP’s can’t live in Kashmir, how come others: JKPM
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: Ashok Kumar Karihallu, who represents Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) as its Minority general secretary, Friday asked the Centre to repeal new land laws in J&K says these were against the ‘interests’ of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“I fail to understand as to what made the Centre to implement new land laws and invite people from across India to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir,” Kumar Karihallu told reporters here two days after new land laws were introduced in the Union Territory.

“Who would buy land in Kashmir and live here? Kashmiri Pandits left the valley thirty years ago, if they cannot live here, how come others…?” he asked.

He said the new land laws would in no way prove beneficial for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and that the Centre should immediately revoke its decision in the larger interests of the people.

The JKPM leader also expressed surprise over the back-to-back decision taken by the Centre with regard to Jammu and Kashmir since abrogation of the special constitutional position of the erstwhile state last year, saying that the “Centre should either refrain from thrusting new laws, or implement all in one go”.

He also asked the Centre to repeal domicile and every other law which was implemented in Jammu and Kashmir after Articles 370 and 35-A were repealed and erstwhile state downgraded into two separate Union Territories on August 05, 2019.

“This is unfortunate that the Centre continues to implement fresh laws in Jammu and Kashmir. First they introduced domicile law then amended land acquisition laws.  Kindly refrain from thrusting laws on us or implement all laws in one go,” JKPM leader added.
