Budgam: Two militants have been killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Aribagh area of Manchowa in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday evening, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

Officials said that two militants have been killed in the gunfight while the search operation is going in the area.

Earlier, police in a tweet stated that an encounter broke out in Aribagh area and said police and forces are on the job.

“#Encounter has started at #Aribagh #Machama area of #Budgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone police tweeted—(KNO)
