Partnering with Haider Hussain, Moazzam overcame stiff fight from Sajad Ahmad and Rouf Ahmad to take home the title, prevailing 6-3, 6-4.

The tournament was played over three days with over 40 players taking part in the singles and doubles events of the tournament.

“This was just a beginning. We would like to hold the event annually so that the game is popularised at grassroots and younger talent is attracted to the game,” Mohammad Yousuf, the co-organiser of the event said.

Noted sports commentator and broadcast journalist Syed Humayun Qaiser gave away the prizes.

Qaiser said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the players and hoped that more and more youngsters will take up the game to make a name for themselves at national and international level.

He appreciated the efforts of Tennis Kashmir in organising the event.
