LG meets Shopian fake encounter victims’ kin, assures ‘full justice’

Rajouri: In a first, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday walked almost half-a kilometer to reach Tarkassi village in Rajouri district where he met family members of three youth killed in alleged fake encounter on July 18 in Amshipora, Shopian and assured the parents of slain youth that justice will be delivered at any cost.

An official communiqué issued today said that LG Sinha first addressed a public gathering in a Rajouri village and later walked almost half-a-kilometer to reach Tarkassi village.

While addressing local population at Peeri on the sidelines of the ongoing Back to Village program observed that main objective of his visit to the remote village was to assure the people that Constitution of India is supreme; Government is with the people, and justice and equality shall be ensured by the government.

Expressing condolences with the families, the Lt Governor said that the UT Government will extend full support to them and assured that justice would be ensured in the case.

He also conveyed the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi  that the government stands with the aggrieved families in the hour of grief, and they will be taken care of with all support from the government.

“Here, the LG visited the house of Muhammad Yousuf, the father of one of the slain trio. Other two families were also present at Yousuf’s house. LG gave a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the families of slain trio and assured them all possible help,” officials said.

They said the family members of slain youth Imtiyaz Ahmed, 26; Abrar Ahmed, 20; and Ibrar Ahmed, 16; demanded justice from the LG and compensation, stating that so far J&K government and police have been very cooperative with them.

“The LG assured all the three families that justice will be delivered and there would be no laxity. He hailed their patience, and asked them to wait until the probe is completed,” officials said.
