JAMMU, APRIL 04: In a meeting attended by Brigadier (Retd.) Suchet Singh, representative of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti, Sh. Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to Governor; Sh. Hemant Kumar Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and Dr. S.D. Singh, IGP Jammu at the Raj Bhavan, Governor N.N. Vohra reviewed the to-date implementation status of various items of the Agreement which had been reached between the Government and the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti in August 2008 which had resulted in ending the Shrine land row agitation,

The matters reviewed involved the status of withdrawal of criminal cases registered against those involved in the agitation; payment of ex-gratia to the next of the kin of the deceased; creation of corpus of Rs. 1 crore for creating job opportunities in the private sector for one member of the bereaved families and those who had been disabled in the course of the agitation.

Governor directed Divisional Commissioner and IGP to expedite the processes required for fulfilling the various elements of the Agreement and asked for a compliance report by 24th April 2018.
