Pulwama: Two militants were killed and an Army soldier sustained injuries on Sunday in a gunfight at Samboora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that two militants have been killed in an ongoing operation, however the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

The sources further said that one Army soldier received minor injury in foot and was shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.

Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Samboora after receiving specific information about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, triggering an encounter, sources said.

In the exchange of fire, two militants were killed, the official sources said, adding, one trooper two sustained minor injuries.

The sources further said that identity of the slain militants is being ascertained.

However, some sources said that both the militants were affiliated with Laskhar-i-Toiba.

The operation is on, the sources said.
