Amshipora encounter: Rajouri families seek LG’s personal intervention
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: Expressing dissatisfaction over the “tardy” investigations into the alleged fake encounter of their kin at Amshipora, Shopian on July 18, the families of three missing youth from Rajouri on Friday wrote a letter to J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha seeking his personal intervention in the matter.

The families said that even after 28 days, they are waiting for the forensic results of the DNA samples taken from them and three alleged militants who were killed in the said encounter, and who they fear were actually their kin.

Mohammed Yousuf, father of Abrar Ahmad, one of the missing youth, said that even if authorities will take years for probe, they cannot prove “our innocent sons as militants”.

He said that on Friday, they called SSP Rajouri about DNA results and his reply was “wait till Monday”.

“If authorities fail to come  up with the DNA reports by Monday, all family members of three slain youth along with local villagers will march towards Shopian and later to north Kashmir and will take the bodies of slain trio back to Rajouri,” Yousuf said.

“The unnecessary delay shows that probe won’t be fair and the authorities are trying to cover up their fake encounter, which they have failed to do so thus far,” Yousuf said.

Families of the three missing youth again requested for a fair and an unbiased probe so that they get justice.

Pertinently, three Rajouri families have alleged that their sons have been killed in Amshipora, Shopian in a stage-managed encounter on 18 July after which police took DNA samples of six members of three families on August 13. However, families are still waiting for DNA cross-examination results. (KNO)
