Last date for filing education scholarship forms October 31, 2020

SRINAGAR : The School Education Department has fixed the last date for filling education scholarship forms on October 31, 2020.

According to the School Education Department, 2868 Fresh and 1729 Renewal Pre-Matric scholarship for National Minorities forms were submitted by students of Jammu division till September 03 while 97442 Fresh and 66733 Renewal Pre-Matric scholarships for National Minority forms were submitted from Kashmir division during the same period.

Similarly, 912 Fresh and 78 Renewal Post-Matric scholarships for National Minorities forms were submitted by students from Jammu division till September 03 while 34170 Fresh and 6927 Renewal Post-Matric scholarships for National Minorities forms were submitted from Kashmir division during the same period.

Also, 27 fresh and 47 Merit cum Means based scholarships for National Minorities were submitted by students from Jammu division and 384 fresh and 269 renewal forms were submitted from Kashmir division as on September 03, 2020.

The last date for application forms for all three categories is fixed for October 31, 2020.

An official of the education department informed that the follow up meeting chaired by Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department had observed that the targets fixed for minority student scholarships by the concerned ministry in GOI during 2020-2021 were much less than achievements registered in 2019-2020.

The social welfare department was directed to take up the matter with the concerned ministries for enhancing physical target ceiling and enhancing the amount of scholarships under central schemes.

‘The Deputy Commissioners were directed to ensure that Tehsildars issue certificates of income, category required by students on spot without any delay,” the official said.

They were also asked to participate in the Scholarship Melas to be organised by DSEJ/K in coordination with district Administration from 8th to 15th of September, 2020 with wide publicity for awareness about scholarship schemes.
