Budgam:Budgam Police on Wednesday morning claimed to have arrested four millitant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) during Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Beerwah area of the district.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Budgam Police and Army’s 53 RR arrested four millitant associates of LeT during CASO in Pethkoot area of Beerwah Budgam.

“On a credible input, Budgam police along with 53 RR arrested four militant associates identified as Shakil Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani , Showkat Ahmad, son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Pethkot Beerwah, Aqib Maqbool Khan, son of Muhammad Maqbool Khan resident of- Chedbug budgam and Ajaz Ahmad Dar, son of Asadullah Dar of Cherwani Chrarsharief,” officials said.

They said arms, ammunition and other incriminating material has been recovered from their possession.

As per the police records, they were involved in providing logistic support and shelter to the active militants of LeT operating in the area.

In this regard, officials said a case under FIR number 225/2020 at Police Station Beerwah under relevant sections of UAPA is registered against them and further investigation is in progress—(KNO)
