The injured were rushed to a hospital.

Authorities in GMC Baramulla identified the injured as Lateef Ahmad Khan, son of Mohmmad Yusuf Khan of Fakirwani Baramulla; Mohammad Afrooz Ganai, son of Abdul Samad of Naidhal Baramulla; Iqra Nazir, daughter of Nazir Ahmad of Chakala Baramulla; Manzoor Ahmad Khan, son of Mohmmad Yusuf Khan of Fakir Wani Baramulla; Tariq Ahmad Chopan, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Kanispora Baramulla; Mohammad Ayub, son of Mohammad Zafar of Binner Baramulla, and Zahoor Ahamd Lone, son of Mohmmad Akber of Hadipora Rafiabad.

They added that among two of the injured persons were later referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

Following the attack government forces sealed the area to nab the attackers while police registered a case (FIR no. 147/2020) under relevant sections of law in Police Station Baramulla.

Meanwhile, hours later suspected militants attacked a police post at Bus stand Sopore. However, there were no reports of any causality.

Sources said suspected militants attacked the police post in Sopore with rifle grenades and some bullets were also fired at the police post.

“There was no loss of life reported in the incident,” a police official said they said, adding that soon after the attack, a massive manhunt was launched in the area to nab the attackers.
