Srinagar: The body of a missing man from HMT area on the outskirts of Srinagar was located from the flood channel in Bemina area here on Monday.

Ghulam Rasool Wani, 40, had gone missing after he went for a morning walk to Sharifabad area last month (24th of July) and did not return. Since then, his family has staged multiple protests in Srinagar to seek his whereabouts.

“We have also filed a missing report at the concerned police station but the police could not trace him and finally his body was recovered from a flood channel in Bemina,” news agency KNO quoted the Wani’s family as saying.

Family members said bag filled with stones was attached with the decomposed body of Wani when it was found today, which they said point to the deceased having been murdered.

The family appealed the police to speed up its investigation and bring his murderers to book.

“This is a cold-blooded murder and we want the police to nab the murderers. There was a stone filled bag attached with the back of the deceased which clearly indicates that he has been murdered,” the family added.

They also threatened to hit streets in protest in case the police failed to arrest the murderers.
