546 more test positive in J&K, Srinagar tops with 102 cases

Srinagar: The tally of Covid-19 effected people in Jammu and Kashmir reached 36377 on Saturday as 546 more tested positive for the disease – 332 from Kashmir and 214 from Jammu division, officials said here today.

Out of 36377 infected people, 28020 have recovered till date, officials said, adding, 648 such patients were discharged from different hospitals today.

Officials said that there are 7672 active positive cases in J&K as of now.

They further said that out of 943981 test results available, 907604 samples have been tested as negative till August 29, 2020.

Officials said that 102 positive cases were reported from Srinagar district today; 18 from Baramulla; 22 from Pulwama; 12 from Kulgam; 12 from Shopian; 22 from Anantnag; 36 from Budgam; 31 from Kupwara; 49 from Bandipora and; 28 from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 134 positive cases were reported from Jammu district; 09 in Rajouri; 01 in Ramban; 19 in Kathua; 18 in Udhampur; 08 in Samba; 10 in Doda; 11 in Poonch and; 04 in Reasi. No positive case was reported from Kishtwar today.

Meanwhile, officials said that 07 COVID-19 deaths were reported – 03 from Jammu and 04 from Kashmir division in past 24 hours.

They said that with these fresh deaths, the toll has reached 685 – 625 in Kashmir and 60 in Jammu division.

However, a local news agency, KNO, reported that right more patients who were tested positive for COVID-19, died in the last 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, thus taking the toll of deaths due to the deadly virus to 691 in the Union Territory.

Quoting officials, KNO reported that the deceased include a 41-year-old woman from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar, a 65-year-old-woman from Kanipora Budgam, a 56-year-old man from Shaikh Zoo Ganderbal, a 75-year-old man from Khangund Tral, a 75-year-old man from Mandoora Tral, a 68-year-old patient from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu, a 65-year-old woman from Mendhar Poonch and a 65-year-old woman from Bhaderwah Doda.
