Day 1: Apni Party remains mum about Gupkar Declaration

Srinagar: As reported by some media organizations, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) on Wednesday was to convene a meeting today to discuss and deliberate upon Gupkar Declaration issued by six mainstream political parties of J&K.

However, the statement, that was issued after the meeting had no mention of the Declaration in question.

A spokesman of the party said that JKAP held a meeting of its leadership at party headquarters at Sheikhbagh in Lal Chowk Srinagar wherein various important matters including the current political situation in J&K were discussed.

In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the party said that the meeting which started at 3:00 PM was presided over by the party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari. Besides highlighting the importance of the political process, restoration of Statehood, comprehensive Domicile Laws, significance of assembly elections and popular government, economic distress, the meeting discussed the status of petitions filed before the Honb’le Supreme Court which challenged the abrogation of Article 370.

The rising number of deaths and infection rate of COVID-19 besides the healthcare services and infrastructural requirements in J&K also surfaced during the course of meeting which lasted for over four hours.

The meeting is scheduled to continue tomorrow, the spokesman added.
