1st Phase of IMPACT Training concludes under Samagra Shiksha

JAMMU: The five days online IMPACT training of Grade II and III teachers concluded today under Samagra Shiksha. About 400 teachers from two zones of district Doda: Ghat and Doda participated and attended the online programme.

The training was conducted through DIET using JKKN platform and ten Resource Persons facilitated by five Course Education Mentors (CEMs) and Pratham Facilitators (PFs) conducted the technical sessions.

The valedictory was attended by Dr. Asgar Samoon, Principal Secretary School Education along with Prof. Hrushikesh Senapati Director NCERT, Project Director Samagra Shiksha Dr. Arun Manhas and other senior officers from School Education Department.

Dr Samoon revealed that as requested by Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the NCERT team had initiated the process of developing this unique course for 37000 elementary stage teachers in the UT. Based on need assessment, a short course entitled ‘Integrated Multidisciplinary Professional Advancement Course for Teachers (IMPACT)’ with comprehensive features has been designed to be conducted in three phases-Face to Face mode (for five days), Field work (Twenty one days) and Reflection and Assessment(three days).

Dr Samoon further apprised that for five days face-to-face phase of this course, IMPACT package including 10 modules has been developed which will provide teachers with the knowledge, understanding and skills on the generic concerns such as understanding of learners, school based assessment, pre-school and foundational literacy and numeracy and teaching-learning in multi-grade situations and also on subject specific pedagogy in the area ofEnvironmental Studies, Languages, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Science.Care has been taken to focus on enhancement of teaching skills and sensitivity for integrating social concerns.

Dr Samoon further reiterated these trained Resource Persons will further impart the training to targeted teachers in a phased manner through existing digital platform- J&K Knowledge Network following all SOPs of Covid-19 shall be followed.

Later, Prof. Senapati, Director NCERT who joined the session from New Delhi Campus, in his remarks told that this course package has been prepared for the face-to-face mode of training for UT Level Resource Persons (UTRP), UT level Resource Person and Mentors (UTRPM) and teachers. The UTRPs and UTRPMs will include the faculty members drawn from SCERTs, DIETs, IASEs, CTEs, BRCs, CRCs and senior secondary schools identified by the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. UTRP will play a very important role for IMPACT as they will directly train the teachers.

Dr Arun Manhas, Project Director who joined the programme from Jammu expressed gratitude to Principal Secretary, Director NCERT and all other members who were part of the programme to make this event a grand success. Dr. Manhas added that this training was mainly focused to equip UTRP, UTRPM and teachers with a better understanding and the required teaching skills on new pedagogic perspective for improving learning outcomes of students. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and closure of Schools thereof; it was not feasible to organize the IMPACT training programme as it was supposed to be organized. Keeping in view the current lockdown and COVID-19 situation, Samagra Shiksha, J&K organized IMAPACT training through online/virtual mode w.e.f 10-08-2020 to 16-08-2020.

G R Mir, Coordinator of this progarmme presented vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants. He urged the teachers to carry forward the learning’s of this training to the target group in their respective districts.
