Srinagar: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said that the statehood will be restored the moment militancy is wiped out and peace completely prevails in Jammu and Kashmir.

Terming the regional mainstream politicians as ‘monsoon frogs’, BJP State General Secretary, Ashok Kaul said as soon as polls are announced, they come out of their abode to join the fray.

“Statehood will be surely restored in Jammu and Kashmir when separatist ideology and subsequent activities end, militancy is wiped out and peace is restored,” Kaul said while talking to reporters after unfurling tricolor at BJP headquarters at Jawahar Nagar on the eve of Independence Day.

He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his I-Day speech announced that polls will be held and there would be Ministers and Chief Minister in Jammu Kashmir.

“No one is averse for holding elections in J&K; we too want the democratic process to begin soon. Delimitation process is on and once the exercise is done, assembly polls will be held as was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his I-Day speech,” Kaul added.

Replying to a query that some mainstream politicians have stated that they won’t contest elections, Kaul without naming anyone said they had made same statements earlier as well but once parliamentary elections were announced they came out of adobe like monsoon frogs.

“They are like monsoon frogs who come out of their adobe when poll trumpet is blown. They were same who boycotted ULB and Panchayat polls but joined the fray once Parliamentary elections were announced in Jammu and Kashmir,” Kaul said.
