Srinagar: Pakistan on Thursday returned a 16-year-old boy of a Karnah village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, who had inadvertently crossed Line of Control (LoC) few months back.

According to locals news agency KNS, a flag meeting was held at Teetwal crossing point between officials of India and Pakistan armies, during which Pakistani officials handed over Ravees Ahmad, son of Mohammad Yaqoob Kumar, resident of Sadhpora Karnah, who had unintentionally crossed LoC on January 29 this year.

Mohammad Yaqoub Kumar, father of Ravees Ahmad, said that on January 29 this year, the family had sent Ravees to sister’s home at Chatkari village to invite her for a function “but unfortunately the terrain of the area misled him to the other side and he crossed LoC inadvertently where Pakistani army apprehended him.

“Soon after the incident happened, I reported to Police Station Tadd Karnah and lodged a missing report of my son,” Yaqoub said.

He said when family came to know about his crossing over to the other side, it lost all hope about his return. However, he described the return of his son a “miracle” and thanked the efforts of civil and army administration here and across for making his return possible.
