“Shafi sahib possessed exceptional qualities, which are uncommon in contemporary politics. An ace speaker, a proactive ground worker and a committed soldier of party; he held the party flag high in the most trying times braving all difficulties. He left us too soon. His passing away has created a void in the political landscape of south Kashmir, and his presence will be sorely missed in the party. He will be remembered for his contribution to the party for all the times to come,” Omar was quoted saying by the spokesman.

On the occasion party vice president consoled the son of late leader, Syed Sabha. Party Vice President offered Fateh for the deceased and prayed to Almighty to grant highest echelons to the departed soul in Jannah and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the inconsolable loss.

Several other party leaders too were present on the occasion, said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, NC President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President Omar Abdullah  on Sunday expressed grief over the demise of party’s Block President Eidgah Ghulam Muhammad Lone.

The duo prayed for peace to departed soul and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the inconsolable loss. Party President and Vice President also expressed unison with the grief stricken family in their hour of grief, the spokesman said.
