DISHA meeting: Dr Jitendra Singh reviews progress under CSSs in Kathua

KATHUA: Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh today reviewed the progress/ achievements made under Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the district, here at a meeting of District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA).

The Union Minister chaired the meeting through video conferencing which was attended by District Development Commissioner Kathua Om Parkash Bhagat, BDC Chairpersons, Municipal Committee Heads and District officers of different Departments.

Dr Jitendra Singh reviewed the achievements under DDUGJY, PMDP (Urban, Rural & Industrial Town), PMKSY, MGNREGA, PMAY-G, PMAY-U, SBM-G, NRLM, NRDWP, besides progress made under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) and the schemes of Education, Agriculture and horticulture sectors.

While reviewing the achievements of several ongoing flagship projects in the district, Dr Jitendra Singh said projects like 196 MW Ujh Multipurpose Project, Tunnel near Mata Bala Sundri shrine, Seed Processing Plant, Biotech Park on completion would prove a game changer in the socio-economic growth of the local populace.

Dr Singh directed DDC and Engineers of concerned agencies to remove the bottlenecks and speed up the much awaited Tunnel project near Mata Bala Sundri shrine which will cut short the distance to a great extent.

The Union minister directed district administration to take on board the PRIs and ULB members, while prioritizing the PMGSY & CRF projects of their respective jurisdictions.

While reviewing the progress under Samagra Shiksha scheme, Dr Jitendra Singh directed DDC to expedite the process for the construction of 100 bedded Girls Hostel at Macheddi, adding that the facility would surely motivate girls to pursue education under safe environment in remote areas like Machhedi.

Dr Jitendra Singh directed the DDC to take up the matter of proposed Highway Village Logate with National Highway authorities at the earliest.

He directed DDC to consolidate the recommended list of road projects of Panchayats and municipalities before submitting the final list of PMGSY and CRF roads. He asked for resolving the issues related to CRF roads, if any to speed up the stalled works in a phased manner.

He suggested for highlighting the success stories of the beneficiaries of KCC, PM- Kissan schemes at different forums to encourage more farmers to avail the benefits for achieving the target of doubling the farmers’ income.

The progress on Border Bunkers was also reviewed by the Union Minister and directions were passed to the PWD(R&B) & REW departments to complete the construction work in stipulated time frame.

Dr Jitendra also called upon the BDC Chairpersons and Municipal Councillors to help district administration in identifying the genuine   PMAY beneficiaries.

The Union Minister asked the officers to create mass awareness among people about benefits of different centrally sponsored schemes. He also called for strictly following the guidelines while executing the schemes and taking effective follow up of issues raised during the deliberations.

Earlier, DDC Kathua O P Bhagat presented the district profile through power point presentation besides financial as well as physical progress of all the Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented in the district.

The DDC apprised the Union Minister that public hearing of all the stakeholders of Ujh Multipurpose project has been convened and their demands are being taken up with concerned authorities.

The BDC Chairpersons of various blocks and Municipal Councillors who were also present in the meeting, highlighted their demands and problems. The Union Minister directed the concerned officers to redress the highlighted issues on priority.

ADC Kathua, Atul Gupta; ACD Narayan Dutt; PO ICDS, Executive Engineers, CPO, CMO and other district officers were present in the meeting.
