Baramulla Police organises seminar on Child Sexual Abuse

Srinagar: Baranulla police today organized a seminar at Government Higher Secondary School Pattan to sensitise the society about growing incidents of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).

SDPO Pattan Raja Majid, SHO Pattan and Najam-un-Nissa Prosecuting Officer J&K Police gave detailed presentations on the issue to spread awareness especially with regard to legal remedies available to victims and their families.

An in-depth analysis of the issues related to child sexual abuse, awareness and role of general masses was presented by Musaib Omar expert on issues related to CSA.

The students participated actively and expressed their views related to CSA and vowed to play their role positively in making awareness in society.

In the interaction with the students there was a consensus that most of such incidents get unreported and social stigmas attached to it is responsible for denial of justice.

SDPO Pattan highlighted the importance of social obligation to take serious note of male child abuses and Prosecuting Officer Pattan discussed laws available to prosecute such offenders.

On this occasion Tehsildar Pattan Syed Faheem and Principal of the Govt Higher secondary School Pattan urged students to become agents for social change and asked the youth to come forward to educate the people about such important social deviation that needs immediate attention.
