5 persons get 7 yrs imprisonment in fake currency case

Hisar, Mar:  A court here has awarded seven years imprisonment each to five persons after finding them guilty of circulating fake currency notes in Hansi town in Hisar district of Haryana in 2013.

In the judgement delivered here yesterday, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hisar,  D R Chaliya convicted Ramesh Gupta, Virender Prasad Kushwah and Kameshwar, all residents of Bihar, Krishan of Dhani Kumharan in Hisar district and Bharat Bhushan of Jagdish Colony, Hansi.

Another accused Mohinder of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh is still absconding and has been declared a proclaimed offender by the court.

Besides imprisonment, all the five accused were ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each and in case of default of payment of fine, they would have to further undergo an imprisonment for six months.

According to prosecution, Hansi police while acting on an information nabbed Ramesh Gupta, Virender Prasad Kushwah, Kameshwar and Mohinder on October 20, 2013.

During interrogation, they named Krishan and Bharat Bhushan involved in this racket and they were also arrested later.

The police recovered a large number of fake notes from them.

The police recovered fake notes of Rs 35,000 from Ramesh Gupta, Rs 35,000 from Virender Prasad Kushwah, Rs 50,000 from Mohinder and Rs 10,000 from Kameshwar.

Hansi police later arrested Krishan and Bharat Bhushan from Jind bypass Hansi and recovered fake notes Rs 5,000 and 7,000  respectively from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that they brought the counterfeit notes from Nepal, Amritsar and Bihar. They used to give fake currency of Rs one lakh in exchange for Rs 50,000 genuine currency.

A case under sections 420 (Cheating), 489A (counterfeiting currency notes), 489B (Using as genuine forged), 489C (Possession of forged or counterfeit currency or bank notes) of IPC was registered in City Police Station Hansi on October 20, 2013.
