SRINAGAR : Emphasizing the need and significance of following Standard Operating Protocols regarding COVID-19, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo, today appealed the people to strictly adhere to all preventive protocols to help contain the spread of this dreaded infection in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Only wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, hand hygiene and other guidelines while venturing out of homes can save us from the threat of this fatal virus which has claimed numerous lives world over”, maintained the FC.

Dulloo cautioned the people that Corona Virus is lethal virus and any complacency towards its spread can prove fatal. He said that the Health and Medical Education Department is taking effective measures right from screening, testing and developing the required infrastructure including dedicated COVID facilities and till date there is no dearth of COVID beds in the UT of J&K. The facilities are being augmented and reviewed continuously from time to time.

FC appreciated the role of frontline workers including Medicos and Para Medical Staff in fighting the Pandemic and performing outstanding duties during these challenging times. He said that scores of health officials including ambulance drivers got infected and despite facing immense stress and mental trauma resumed their duties. Even some have volunteered to donate their Plasma for the infected patients, he added.

“The Government is sensitive towards welfare of these Corona warriors who have come forward in this dire Public Health catastrophe and shall take all measures to keep them safe in the health care settings”, he asserted. He added that sufficient number of PPE kits and other Protective equipments have been kept in buffer stock for these frontline workers.

Meanwhile, he wished speedy recovery to Dr. Mir Mushtaq, Medical Officer of JK Health Services at DH Pulwama. The doctor is fighting Corona in SKIMS isolation ward with Pneumonia and is in respiratory failure. Pertinently his wife and 2 daughters are Corona positive and have been kept in isolation. He also wished for speedy recovery of all the Medical and Para Medical Personnel presently undergoing treatment in different COVID health institutions.

Financial Commissioner also spoke to Director SKIMS and asked him to provide best treatment available to the doctor, his family and all other healthcare personnel fighting this infection.
