Srinagar: A 48-year-old COVID-19 woman from Srinagar died at a hospital here on Wednesday, taking the total number of fatalities due to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir to 88, officials said.

The woman, a resident of Barzulla area of the city, passed away at SKIMS Hospital at around 5:19 am, they said.

The patient was admitted in the infectious disease block of the hospital as a case of chronic myeloid leukemia with bone marrow transplant and fungal pneumonia, they said.

The cause of death was arrhythmia with cardiopulmonary arrest, they added.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir reported 186 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the overall tally to 6422, officials said.

Of these 37 cases were reported from Baramulla followed by Shopian (35), Srinagar (29), Kupwara (22), Pulwama (19), eight each in Anantnag and Rajouri, Jammu (7), Samba (4), three each in Ganderbal and Udhampur, two each in Bandipora, Kathua and Poonch while one each was reported from  Budgam, Doda and Reasi districts.

They said that among the cases, at least 75 were confirmed at SKIMS Soura, 64 at CD hospital and 19 at SKIMS Bemina.

Today’s cases also include 10 Jammu and Kashmir Police and three Central Reserve Police Force (CPRF) personnel, the officials said.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 6422 positive cases, 2516 are active positive, 3818 have recovered and 88 have died; 10 in Jammu division and 78 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 326430 test results available, 320008 samples have been tested as negative till June 24, 2020.

Additionally, till date 265652 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 39599 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2516 in hospital isolation and 47660 under home surveillance. Besides, 175758 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the bulletin said that Bandipora has 280 positive cases and one death; Srinagar has 752 positive cases (including 29 cases reported today) and 21 deaths; Anantnag district has 622 positive cases, six deaths; Baramulla has 670 positive cases, 14 deaths; Shopian has 671 positive cases and 10 deaths; Kupwara has 482 positive cases and five deaths; Budgam has 347 positive cases and six deaths; Ganderbal has 76 positive cases; Kulgam has 711 positive cases and 11 deaths and Pulwama has 387 positive cases and four deaths.

Similarly, Jammu has 318 positive cases and seven deaths; Udhampur has 217 positive cases and one death; Samba has 132 positive cases; Rajouri has 91 positive cases and 01 death; Kathua has 203 positive cases; Kishtwar has 25 positive cases; Ramban has 213 positive cases; Reasi has 36 positive cases; Poonch has 118 positive cases while Doda has 71 positive cases and one death.

According to the bulletin, of the total 6422 positive cases in J&K 2125 have been reported as travelers while 4297 as others.

The bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
