DDC Budgam inaugurates Kissan Machinery Mela

BUDGAM, MARCH 29: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Harun Malik today inaugurated Kissan Machinery cum awareness Mela  at Bihishti Zehra Park Budgam.

The camp aimed at providing and informing the farmers of the district regarding the latest techniques and technologies that can be utilized to enhance the productivity. The day long camp cum seminar was attended by large gathering of farmers from across the district, besides officers of Agricultural Department and other concerned Officers were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer, said, “Cultivation of High Yielding varieties (HYV) among the farmers will be enhanced and encouraged. Apart from using latest farming technologies, farmers will be advised to conduct soil testing of their farm lands, so that the cultivation of suitable varieties is made possible.”

While highlighting the importance of conducting awareness camp for farmers, the DDC stressed upon the agriculture department to increase the frequency of conducting such awareness camps so that the farmers are made aware about the recent developments in the farming sector for their larger benefits. It was also impressed upon the concerned department to reinforce their activities under various programs, so that the agricultural production is enhanced many folds.

The Kissan Machinery Mela cum awareness program was organized by Department of agriculture in collaboration with various allied departments including Soil Conservation, Apiculture, etc.

Earlier  DDC Budgam accompanied by CAO, and other concerned Officers flagged off 80 farmers belonging to various areas of District Budgam for a day long agricultural tour organized under ATMA Programme. The farmers will visit  SKUAST Srinagar, Mansbal, Haran Agricultural Farm and Cith Rangreth. Besides interaction at the locations with other farmers the visitors will be imparted training by   agriculturists and other experienced staff about how to shift towards advance cultivation for boosting their agriculture production and economy.
