Protesters said the government is fulfilling 80, 000 fresh class 4th posts in the newly carved out UT and those who have been fighting for regularization over the past two decades are detained and charged with batons.

Before the protesters could march towards city centre Lal Chowk to register their protest, police bundled scores of them into already awaiting vehicles and detained them at Kothibagh police station.

Sajjad Ahmad Parray who heads Jammu and Kashmir casual, daily-wagers Forum as President was also detained.

Protesters said the government has from time to time assured that their regularization and other issues would be taken care of but nothing of the sort happened till date.

They said the government before engaging 80,000 people for class 4th posts should seriously think about the regularization of 60,000 who already perform duties in different departments over the past more than two decades.

“If government cannot regularize their services how far is this genuine to engage 80,000 more,” said Sajjad Parray before being detained.
