Srinagar : J&K Students Association (JKSA) has demanded immediate evacuation of Kashmiri students, stranded in Pakistan.

In a statement issued here, JKSA spokesperson, Nasir Khuehami, said: “Government of India has not uttered a single word about the evacuation of Kashmiri students from Pakistan. Students stranded there are facing hardships due to lockdown.”

“The living conditions of students stranded in Pakistan continue to deteriorate. The mental anguish that comes with staying in place far away from home is hard to explain. I don’t understand why Govt of India is hesitant to evacuate these stranded students. They are helplessly waiting for some mode of transportation to reach their homes,” the statement quoted Khuehami as saying.

“JKSA spoke to many students who expressed their willingness to come back but authorities are unconcerned. They told JKSA that the students were not allowed to meet the concerned officials as they had tried to approach the Indian embassy,” said Khuehami.

“On May 19, the students were asked to fill forms regarding the evacuation process but to no avail. The Government of India should start the evacuation process as soon as possible them,” added Khuehami.
