COVID-19: Govt declares Dhara Harwan ‘Red-Zone’

Srinagar, May 29: District administration Srinagar Friday declared Dhara area of Harwan in Srinagar as Red-Zone and its adjoining localities Buffer-Zone two days after two persons were tested positive for novel coronavirus in the area.

Officials said that a rigorous contact tracing process has been started in this regard and the family members, relatives, immediate neighbors and those who have came into the contact of positive patients have been put under 14 day quarantine. They further said the step was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the area.

An uneasy calm prevailed in Dhara Harwan after the area was completely sealed and police was seen making rounds in vehicles fitted with loudspeakers appealing people to stay indoors.

All the entry and exit points leading to Dhara Harwan were sealed with concertina wires and iron barricades to curtail peoples’ movement.

“Dhara area in Harwan has been declared as Red-Zone and the areas falling within five kilometers radius were declared as Buffer-Zones. Two patients were tested positive for Corona-Virus in the area following which measures under Disaster Management Act 2005 including contact tracing were followed,” a senior health official told ‘Kashmir Images’.
