Srinagar: Twenty-five more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, bringing the number of cases to 861 in the union territory, officials said.

The fresh cases include a nurse and three contacts of a doctor who had earlier tested positive for novel coronavirus, the officials said.

While 23 new cases are from the Kashmir Valley, two are from Jammu region, they said.

The officials said the number of cases in Jammu and Kashmir has now reached 861.

“Of the total number of cases, 790 are in Kashmir, while 71 are in the Jammu region,” they added.

Among the fresh cases are a nursing staff at Super Speciality Hospital Shireen Bagh here and three contacts of a COVID-19 positive doctor of the same hospital, said Dr Salim Khan, Nodal Officer, COVID-19 at Government Medical College Srinagar.

He said a person from Kupwara, who has travelled from Jammu by road but was intercepted by police and then sampled at TRC here, has also tested positive.

An employee of Government Medical College here has also tested positive, Khan said.

The officials said while there were 469 active cases in the union territory — 454 in Kashmir and 15 in Jammu — 383 patients have recovered from the infection.

The UT has witnessed nine coronavirus-related deaths.

“93344 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 21760 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 177 in Hospital Quarantine, 469 in hospital isolation and 9615 under home surveillance. Besides, 61314 persons have completed their surveillance period,” the officials said.

Providing district-wise breakup, the officials said that Bandipora has 134 positive cases with 58 Active Positive, 75 recovered, 01 death; Srinagar has 136 (including 05 cases reported today) positive cases with 57 Active Positive, 76 recovered, 03 deaths; Anantnag district has 123 positive cases (including 01 case reported today) with 119 Active Positive, 03 recovered (including 02 recoveries reported today),  01 death; Baramulla has 108 positive cases (including 02 reported today) with 60 Active Positive, 45 recovered, 03 deaths; Shopian has 103 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 52 Active Positive, 51 recovered (including 04 recoveries today); Kupwara has 73 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 31 Active Positive, 42 recovered (including 09 recoveries today); Budgam has 46 positive cases with 33 Active Positive and 13 recovered cases; Ganderbal has 23 positive cases with 09 Active case and 14 recoveries; Kulgam has 31 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 26 Active Positive and  05 recoveries; Pulwama reported 13 positive cases with 09 active positive, 04 recovered.

Similarly, Jammu has 32 positive cases (including 01 cases reported today) with 06 active positive cases and 26 recoveries; Udhampur has 22 positive cases with 02 active positive case, 19 recovered and 01 death; Samba has 07 positive cases with 03 Active Positive and 04 recoveries; Rajouri has 04 positive cases who all have recovered;  Kathua has 03 positive case (including 01 case reported today) with 02 active positive cases, 01 has recovered; Kishtwar had only 01 positive case who has recovered while Ramban and Reasi have 01 active positive case each.
