Four injured in Jammu grenade attack

Srinagar: Four civilian, one CRPF man and a J&K Police cop were injured in a grenade attack by militants in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday, police said.

Reports said that unidentified militants hurled a grenade towards joint party of 181 BN CRPF and police in Pakherpora injuring two security personnel and four civilians.

The injured security personnel were identified as ASI JKP Ghulam Rasool alias Dilawar and CRPF constable Santosh Kumar.

Four civilians, including two women, also received splinter injuries. Two of them were identified as Shafeeq Ahmad Najar and Irfan Ahmad Wani.

All the injured were rushed to Sub-District Hospital Pakherpora for treatment.

Local news agency KNS quoted the doctors saying that the injured civilians were referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam Nagpure Amod confirmed the grenade attack and said the unknown militants hurled grenade in Pakherpora market with an aim to inflict threat among masses and added that all injured are stable.

Soon after the attack, joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the area and intensified searches to nab the attackers.
